AAC asks Tinubu for Aso Rock venue, feeding, logistics for Sowore supporters

The African Action Congress (AAC) has asked President Bola Tinubu to grant it access to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council on November 11, 2026.

In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party requested permission to hold the inauguration at the seat of the Nigerian presidency for its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

Beyond the venue, the AAC requested food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event from within Nigeria and abroad.

The party said its demands were based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

It cited similar arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that opposition parties should receive comparable treatment in accessing public facilities.

The AAC maintained that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination, regardless of their political affiliations.

It challenged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness by considering the requests, including the provision of welfare and logistical support for the expected participants.

The request places the proposed campaign council inauguration at the centre of a debate over equal treatment of political parties, although the letter, as presented by the party, does not establish whether the presidency has approved the demands.
