Grassroots mobilisation key to Tinubu’s re-election, says Ondo support group

The Progressive Mandate Forum (PMF), a support group for President Bola Tinubu, has set a target of securing one million votes for him in Ondo State in the 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of grassroots mobilisation.

The forum’s Chairman, Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, stated this on Wednesday during the simultaneous inauguration of its local government chapters across the state’s 18 local government areas.

Ijabiyi urged members to intensify political engagement at the local government, ward and polling-unit levels, saying effective grassroots organisation would be crucial to achieving the group’s electoral target.

He directed each chapter to develop a practical mobilisation strategy with clear targets and assigned responsibilities. He also set an 80 per cent voter turnout target among registered voters in each local government area.

To expand the group’s reach, Ijabiyi urged members to engage community associations, friends, neighbours and other supporters. He also encouraged eligible residents to register as voters when registration opportunities became available and collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

He said ward coordinators would lead grassroots activities, while local government and ward supervisors would monitor progress, provide guidance and ensure accountability. He added that the chapters had selected their presiding officers, secretaries and ward coordinators to drive the mobilisation campaign.

The chairman disclosed that ward and polling-unit meetings would hold at least twice a month, while local government chapters would meet monthly to assess progress and strengthen political engagement ahead of the elections.

Ijabiyi said the forum, sponsored by BTO, would continue its activities beyond the 2027 general elections, particularly ahead of the 2028 Ondo State governorship election. He urged members to remain united and work with recognised All Progressives Congress structures to achieve their political objectives.
