The Kwara State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed Hon. Jimoh Ali Yusuf and Hon. Abdullateef Abolore as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

The two nominees, both from Ilorin East Local Government Area, were confirmed after the house dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to deliberate on their screening.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had forwarded their names to the Assembly on October 20 for screening and confirmation.

During the exercise, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, said Yusuf represented Ilorin East Constituency in the Assembly from 2019 to 2023, serving as deputy whip during the ninth assembly.

The speaker described Yusuf as a man of integrity and a committed party loyalist, noting that they had served together in the ninth assembly. He subsequently urged lawmakers to allow the nominee to take a bow and leave, expressing confidence in his ability to perform effectively in any ministry assigned to him.

Yusuf thanked the house for recognising his contributions during the ninth assembly before taking a bow and leaving the chamber.

Similarly, Abolore was allowed to take a bow after the speaker noted that he had appeared before the house on several occasions and undergone previous screening exercises. The speaker and other lawmakers described him as an educationist and a thoroughbred professional capable of discharging his responsibilities effectively.

Following the screening exercise, the lawmakers confirmed both nominees as commissioners and members of the Kwara State Executive Council.
