Ondo court orders estranged couple to produce missing son

An Akure Customary Court has directed an estranged couple to produce their first son, who has reportedly been missing from home for three months, amid a dispute over the custody and upbringing of their children.

The directive followed a custody dispute brought before the court in Oke-Eda, Akure, by Olopade Bosede against her former husband, Olopade Femi, following the dissolution of their marriage.

Bosede told the court that her former husband had failed to cooperate with her in caring for their children, adding that the children had become increasingly disobedient to her.

She explained that although their marriage had ended, the children appeared to pay greater attention to their father’s instructions than hers, making it difficult for her to exercise parental authority.

However, Femi disputed his former wife’s claims, arguing that she was incapable of providing adequate care for the children. He maintained that the children were not disobedient and expressed his desire to have them live with him.

In response, Bosede said she was willing to allow the children to live with their father if he remained unwilling to cooperate with her on matters concerning their welfare.

Following the submissions, the court’s president, A.S. Obademi, directed both parties to produce their first son, whose whereabouts have reportedly been a concern for three months.

The court adjourned the case until October 26 for further hearing.
