By Boye Oyeyemi

A former Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, has urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji to prioritise job creation, road infrastructure and food security in his second term, saying the next four years should bring greater benefits to residents.

Olumilua, who congratulated Oyebanji on his inauguration for a second term, said the governor should build on the achievements of his first four years and pursue more ambitious development programmes.

In a statement, the former commissioner commended the administration’s interventions in agriculture, road construction, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and workers’ welfare, describing the sectors as critical to Ekiti State’s development.

He called for stronger support for farmers to boost food production and ensure food security. He also urged the government to sustain investment in roads and other public infrastructure to facilitate commercial activities and drive economic growth.

On youth development, Olumilua urged the administration to create more opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship and innovation, noting that such initiatives would expand economic prospects and promote inclusive development across the state.

He also stressed the need to sustain policies that improve the welfare of civil servants, pensioners and elderly residents, particularly through the regular payment of salaries, pensions and other entitlements.

According to him, the experience gained during Oyebanji’s first term should enable the administration to improve policy implementation, raise performance standards and achieve better results in its renewed mandate.

Olumilua expressed confidence that Oyebanji would surpass his previous achievements, adding that the second term presented an opportunity to strengthen public trust through effective governance and sustained improvements in the living conditions of Ekiti residents.
