A legacy revisited: A day with the incomparable Mama Abiodun Duro Ladipo, by Adedokun Abolarin

On Saturday, March 15,2025 , our humble institution was blessed with a visit from a true legend, Abiodun Duro Ladipo, the wife of the revered thespian, Duro Ladipo. Accompanied by some of their children, Mama Abiodun Duro Ladipo’s presence was a masterclass in elegance, warmth, and cultural richness.

As she interacted with our students, particularly the members of our cultural group, it was evident that the Duro Ladipo legacy continues to inspire and educate new generations. The spark in the eyes of our young ones as they listened to her stories and experiences was a testament to the enduring power of art, culture, and tradition.

Duro Ladipo, the legendary actor and playwright, may have left us 47 years ago, but his impact on Nigerian theatre and cultural heritage remains unparalleled. His wife, Abiodun, has been a steadfast custodian of his legacy, ensuring that his works and values continue to inspire and influence contemporary artists and audiences.
