Abducted Oyo APC Chieftain, Oriade regains freedom after 39 days in captivity

Wale Oriade, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State who was abducted several weeks ago, has regained his freedom after spending 39 days in captivity.

The Oyo APC Public Relations Officer, Wale Sadare, confirmed the development on Saturday.

Oriade was kidnapped on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, at about 7:06 pm at his office in the PJ Square Shopping Complex, located beside the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited filling station at Elewure, along Iyana Ajanla on the Akala Expressway in Ibadan.

Confirming his release, Sadare said, “he has been released.”

However, as at the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
