Abducted Oyo school teacher reportedly beheaded in captivity

Michael Oyedokun, one of the abducted teachers of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has reportedly been killed by his abductors.
Reports circulating online on Sunday alleged that the teacher was killed by his abductors while in captivity following the recent attack on schools in the area.
A video allegedly released by the kidnappers and shared on social media showed the victim restrained and forced to speak before he was killed.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over the safety of other victims still being held by the abductors.
Residents of the affected communities described the development as tragic and called for urgent intervention by security agencies.
Families of the abducted victims also appealed to the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity.
Confirming the killing of the teacher, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, in a statement on Monday, said the governor extended his condolences to the victim’s family and assured his government would explore both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to rescue others in the kidnappers’ den. He also added that about six suspects related to the kidnapping incident have been arrested.
According to the special adviser, security agencies have continued rescue operations across the affected areas, while stakeholders have urged authorities to strengthen security around schools and vulnerable rural communities.
