Abdullahi Adamu emerges APC National Chairman

Former Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Adamu, has emerged the new national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu became the new chairman of the ruling party, after all the other contestants for the position stepped down for him as the consensus candidate.

Chairman of the election committee of the convention and Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru declared Adamu as the national chairman at Eagles Square, venue of the national convention.

Badaru said all other contestants stepped down for Adamu out of respect for President Muhammadu Buhari who intervened.

“After the intervention of Baba Nigeria (President Muhammadu Buhari), all the other six contestants have withdrawn and have issued me with individual letter indicating that they have withdrawn from the race out of respect for President Muhammadu Buhari and out of his counsel for us to go into consensus. The consensus candidate is Senator Abdullahi Adamu,” Badaru said.

He then put Adamu’s acceptance to voice vote of affirmation, with the ayes having it.

“I Muhammed Baduru Abubakar, the chairman of the election committee of this convention, given the power, I declare Senator Abduallahi Adamu the winner for the position of the national chairman having satisfied all the legal provisions, he is returned elected,” he then added.
