Abia will align with FG’s renewed hope agenda on health- Otti

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced that his administration is aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector to enhance access to quality healthcare across the state.
This declaration was made during a visit from Dr. Salma Ibrahim, the Special Adviser to the President on Health, who was in Abia for an advocacy mission.
Otti emphasized the shared goals between Abia State and the Federal Government, particularly in healthcare, underscoring a unified pursuit of improved health outcomes despite political differences.
“Even if we’re not in the same party, we are on the same pedestal. We are driving towards the same purpose,” Otti stated, highlighting the commonalities in their healthcare objectives.
The governor outlined several of his administration’s achievements in the health sector, including a robust budget for healthcare, the restoration of accreditation for the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, the resolution of salary arrears for health workers, and efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality rates.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government to ensure quality healthcare for the people of Abia State.
Dr. Salma Ibrahim, in her address, urged a partnership between Abia State and the Federal Government to expedite the health sector transformation initiatives detailed in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She emphasized the importance of sustained efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality and assured that the Federal Government would support Abia State in achieving its health policies.
Ibrahim also commended Governor Otti for increasing the healthcare budget by 15 percent, demonstrating his dedication to improving the sector.
