Abiodun visits Ijoko/Olambe/Akute road, assures residents of drivable road before December

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has assured the residents of Sango Ota/Ijoko/Olambe/Akute/Alagbole that one side out of the existing dualized section of the 32km road will be reconstructed before December.

The governor, who visited the area on Sunday, commended residents for their patience despite the harrowing experience they go through every day while commuting on the road.

He said the 32km road will be fully constructed in phases.

The governor’s visit followed the one embarked upon by Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya on Thursday last week.

Abiodun, during the visit said one lane of the 32-kilometer road from Sango Ota through Ijoko to Alagbole will be done between now and December to ensure that motorists and other road users who ply the road daily do so without stress.

He gave the contractor handling the road the marching order to ensure that the December deadline for phases 1 and 6 and the palliative measures to be applied on other sections are achieved.

Mrs Anike Anifowoshe, a popular trader in the area described the road as been in very bad condition, noting that it is almost impassable whenever it rains.

“This road used to be very bad. I have been doing my business in this area for more than ten years now and the road keep getting bad without attention from the government. I am happy that our governor, after we cried out to him the last time he came here, has decided to do something.

Governor Abiodun also spoke on the ongoing work on the Sango Ota-Abeokuta Expressway.

He said that although, the road belongs to the Federal Government, there was the need to urgently do something to lessen the pains of motorists plying the road every day.
