Accord Party affirms Adelabu as Oyo governorship candidate

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu has been affirmed as the flagbearer of Accord Party for the 2023 election in the state.
The affirmation took place at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan on Wednesday with large turnout of party members from the 33 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, National Chairman of the party, Nalado Lawal Mohammed said the gathering was to officially declare and present Oloye Adelabu as the governorship candidate of the party.
According to him, Accord Party remains the only viable party in the country with credible leadership, and very good programmes.
He said the country is going through difficult times due to wrong choice of leadership, adding that the power for change lies with the people.
Nalado urged party members to embrace peace, unity and work together for the victory of Oloye Adelebu in the forthcoming poll.
In his speech, the state chairman of the party, Prince Ojo Kolade assured that the party is fully prepared to take over governance of the state in the 2023 governorship election.
He also charged members of the party to remain united in order to be victorious at the elections.
National Secretary of the party, Olubukola Ajaja described the choice of Oloye Adelabu as a welcome development, adding that he is a man with integrity.
Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Olayemi Olugbenga proclaimed the affirmation of Oloye Adelabu before the leadership and members of the party.
He said the development was in line with the provision of the Electoral Act 2022 as amended.
In his speech, Oloye Adelabu said coming from the APC to run on the ticket of Accord Party was not an accident but divine arrangement for him to realise his ambition.
“By God’s grace, our 14 House of Representatives candidates, three senatorial candidates and 32 House of Assembly candidates will emerge victorious. And as you can see, the large turnout of members is an evidence.
“I will do everything possible to make the people happy by delivering to them real dividend of democracy and I want to appeal to you all to settle all disputes and issues all around you so that we can all work together for the victory of our party,” he said.
Oyajide Ayodele, who stepped down for Adelabu as governorship candidate and other top shots in the party were in attendance.
