Accord Party chairman says APC poses no threat to Adeleke in Osun
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Pastor Victor Akande, on Thursday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, are not a threat to Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Akande made the statement on Thursday, at a newspoint programme organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council.
He said the people of Osun State had already rejected the APC due to the hardship experienced during the party’s period in government, including half salary payments, abandoned projects and the suffering of pensioners.
Akande alleged that some pensioners lost their lives because they could not afford drugs as a result of unpaid or reduced salaries, while cooperative funds were allegedly squandered by the APC-led government.
He noted that the emergence of Adeleke’s administration three years ago brought significant changes across the state, earning the governor wide acceptance and support among residents.
According to him, the rejection of the APC was clearly evident during the 2022 election.
Akande said the APC candidate was not a threat, stressing that the party had been completely rejected by the people because of the hardship inflicted on the state during its time in power.
He added that the people of Osun State would reaffirm their rejection of the APC in August 2028, describing the party as a persona non grata in the state. “I know by the grace of God that in August 2028 they will hear it clearly that the APC has become a persona non grata as far as Osun State is concerned,” he said.
