Accord Party faction produces candidate for 2026 Osun governorship race

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Barely four days after Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State emerged as the party’s flag bearer of the Accord Party, another faction of the party has produced Clement Bamigbola as its governorship candidate for the 2026 election in the state.
It would be recalled that Adeleke emerged as the party’s candidate under the Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem–led national executive as the sole aspirant.
However, a faction of the party rejected his emergence, insisting that he is not the legally backed National Chairman of the party.
On Sunday, about 300 Accord Party delegates from across Osun State conducted a separate primary election at Regina Suite, Osogbo.
At the exercise, Bamigbola emerged as the factional candidate through a voice vote conducted by the delegates.
The Chairman of the Primary Committee, Hon. Olufemi Ogundare, subsequently pronounced Bamigbola elected as the Accord Party candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Ogundare and other party leaders thereafter presented the party’s flag to Bamigbola for the 2026 contest.
