Actress Eucharia Anunobi chastises podcast host over incorrect introduction

Veteran Nollywood actress, Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi, has criticised a podcast presenter for introducing her incorrectly, insisting that she laboured to earn her titles.

The actress made the demand while appearing on the Honest Bunch Podcast, after the presenter introduced her merely as “Eucharia Anunobi Ekwu.” This did not sit well with her, prompting her to school the host on the proper way to address her.

In a viral video clip from the podcast, Anunobi expressed her dissatisfaction with the introduction, pointing out that her earned titles were omitted.

According to the actress, who is now an evangelist, her doctorate degree is not honorary but an academic achievement, which she worked hard to earn. “If you want to introduce me, you introduce me properly. I remain Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi,” she said.

“My doctorate degree is not honorarium. It is academic. I worked, I laboured, I schooled—and when I say schooled, I mean schooled,” she added.

Speaking about her evangelical mission, she asserted, “I am an ordained woman of God.” She further described herself as an enigma in the Nollywood industry, stating, “I am a foremost megastar when it comes to acting. I am a moving acting machine.” The actress stressed that it is necessary to give people the correct introduction because, she said, “we all tend to diminish our own and do not give them the honour due to them. So, if you want to introduce me, you introduce me properly.”

Dr. Anunobi also refuted the use of her ex-husband’s name, which the presenter had added to her introduction. She said, “I don’t know where you got the Ekwu from. Yes, there was a court wedding, but there was no traditional or church wedding. So, that name has been addressed, and it is gone and buried—it will never be resurrected.”

Recounting challenges during her marriage to her ex-husband, Charles Ekwu, the evangelist disclosed that she was emotionally and financially drained due to his alleged lack of financial support, which ultimately led to her exit from the marriage.
