ADC appoints caretaker committee after dissolving Kano exco

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissolved its Kano State executive committee and inaugurated a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the party pending the emergence of a new leadership.

The party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Najaatu Mohammed, announced the decision during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Kano on Monday.

Mohammed said the move was taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, stressing that it was aimed at safeguarding the party’s stability and ensuring continuity in its operations.

She explained that the national leadership acted to prevent a leadership vacuum from disrupting the party’s activities, noting that political organisations must be guided by order, discipline and constitutional processes.

“This important action is not out of preference but out of constitutional duty. Every action taken has been guided by the constitution of our party, the Electoral Act and our collective responsibility to protect the future of the ADC in Kano State,” she said.

Mohammed urged party members not to see the caretaker committee as a verdict on the commitment or loyalty of the dissolved executive, describing members across the state as the party’s greatest strength.

She commended party faithful for their sacrifices in building the ADC in Kano and appealed to stakeholders to support the transitional arrangement in the interest of the party.

The newly constituted caretaker committee is chaired by Alhaji Umar Bala, while Isma’il Musa will serve as secretary.
