ADC to build competent bureaucracy, structured party financing — Sen. David Mark

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) will focus on developing a technically competent internal bureaucracy and introducing structured financing to enhance its institutional capacity, the party’s newly inaugurated National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has said.
Speaking on Monday during the inauguration of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Mark unveiled a reform agenda aimed at repositioning the ADC as a modern, inclusive, and policy-driven political platform.
“We will build a technically competent bureaucracy for the party and ensure structured financing. All members will truly own the party,” he said, emphasizing internal transparency and sustainable political operations.
The former Senate President stressed the importance of democratic values, vowing to uphold transparency, accountability, and internal democracy while rejecting imposition and favoritism in party affairs.
Mark also promised fairness and collective leadership, reiterating a zero-tolerance stance on anti-party activities and indiscipline. “We shall be fair and just to all party members. We promise to be totally transparent,” he stated.
A key focus of his speech was the revamp of grassroots structures at all levels—from polling units to the national executive—ensuring the party aligns with modern political realities. He also announced that 35% of leadership roles would be reserved for women, alongside significant positions for leaders under 40.
He revealed plans to set up a 50-member Policy Committee to define the party’s ideology and outline national priorities in sectors such as health, education, economy, agriculture, security, and technology.
Mark said the reforms aim to transform the ADC into a party that not only contests elections but governs with purpose and principle. “Nigerians must know us as a party driven by unblemished ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance,” he said.
