ADC will restore good governance in Osun – Aregbesola

Former Minister of Interior and Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has pledged that the party will restore good governance in Osun State, anchored on the values of people-centred leadership.

Aregbesola made the declaration on Saturday during the monthly meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives in Ilesa. He commended the unwavering loyalty and support of party stakeholders across local governments, applauding their financial and material contributions to the ADC’s mission.

He hailed their collective resolve to reclaim Osun for the entrenchment of effective governance, assuring that the ADC remains committed to delivering what he called a “People-Friendly Government” (PFG).

“Our goal is clear: to return Osun State to the path of true progressive leadership. We will bring back a people-centred government,” Aregbesola stated.

As preparations begin for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise starting August 18, he called on party members to mobilise across communities, especially among young, eligible voters who have either benefited from past progressive programmes or felt sidelined by recent administrations.

The former governor stressed the importance of engaging voters through peaceful and civil discourse. He urged members to avoid personal attacks and instead focus on issue-based debates that would strengthen the party’s message and vision.

“We must elevate political discourse. Our mission demands discipline and issue-based engagement,” he said, warning against divisive rhetoric.

Aregbesola closed on an optimistic note, expressing confidence in the support of the people and the capacity of the ADC to reclaim leadership in the state. “Nigeria must work in our lifetime,” he added.
