ADC will return Osun State to ‘pedestal of development’ — Aregbesola

Former Governor of Osun State and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed confidence that the party’s governorship candidate in the 2026 Osun election, Najeem Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye, would restore the state to the path of development.
Aregbesola spoke during the ADC Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Ilesa, where he appreciated party members and supporters for remaining committed despite what he described as intimidation and attacks from political opponents.
He commended stakeholders for remaining steadfast and unwavering in their support for the party, urging them not to be discouraged by challenges confronting the opposition movement in the state.
According to him, those currently in charge of affairs at the national level have failed to uphold the fundamental principles of governance, particularly the welfare and security of the people.
Aregbesola said the ADC had no reason to align with such leadership, stressing that members of the party were proud of their platform and determined to strengthen it ahead of the governorship election.
“We are proud members of the ADC, and despite all attacks against us, our party continues to grow in leaps and bounds. I urge everyone not to relax or waver, because victory is ours by the Grace of God,” he said.
The former governor described Iwaloye as a loyal and committed politician who is passionate about returning Osun State to the level of development his administration achieved before leaving office in 2018.
He called on residents of the state to support the ADC candidate in the forthcoming election, assuring them that the party would not disappoint the people if given the mandate to govern.
