On-air personality Dotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, has urged Nigerians to stop dragging Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold over old social media posts, saying the singer has done nothing wrong.

The celebrity couple has recently faced scrutiny from netizens over resurfaced tweets from their younger years. Simi’s posts referenced her experiences caring for children at her mother’s daycare, while Adekunle Gold was criticised for past tweets in which he described his preferred qualities in women.

Reacting to the backlash, Dotun insisted that Adekunle Gold should not be included in the controversy. He called on Nigerians to move past the issue and warned that sustained online trolling could negatively affect the couple’s children.

“The singer has done nothing wrong. People should leave Adekunle Gold out of this and focus on more meaningful discussions,” Dotun said.

He added that Adekunle Gold’s legacy is rooted in his music, not old tweets. Dotun challenged critics to stop targeting the singer, noting that the couple is being unfairly dragged because of their influence and popularity.

According to Dotun, the resurfaced posts should not overshadow Adekunle Gold’s contributions to music and his career achievements.

He also highlighted the importance of protecting the family from the emotional impact of online attacks, emphasising that children can be deeply affected by such controversies.

Dotun concluded by urging the public to separate past social media activity from the singer’s present character and professional accomplishments, reminding Nigerians that online trolling has real-life consequences.
