The former minister also stressed the importance of strengthening safety measures in markets to reduce the risk of future fire outbreaks. He called for improved fire prevention strategies and better emergency response systems to safeguard lives and property.

Adelabu took time to inspect the affected sections of the market, assessing the extent of the damage while interacting with traders to hear firsthand accounts of their losses and immediate needs.

The affected traders expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of empathy and solidarity. They said his presence offered encouragement at a time when many were struggling to come to terms with the destruction of their businesses.

The fire incident left several traders counting huge losses, with many appealing to the government, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians for assistance to help them recover, rebuild their shops and restore their livelihoods.
