Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointments of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland and Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina, with immediate effect.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi. According to the statement, the Osun State Executive Council ratified the appointments during its meeting presided over by Governor Adeleke on Friday.

Prince Haastrup’s appointment as Owa Obokun Adimula follows the passing of the previous monarch, Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, on September 11, 2024. Similarly, Prince Abikoye’s selection as the Asaoni of Ora Igbomina comes after the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.

Governor Adeleke congratulated the newly appointed monarchs and emphasized that their selections adhered to the provisions of the Chiefs’ Law of Osun State 2002 (Cap 25).

He further urged the people of both towns to support their new traditional rulers and foster peace and unity within their communities.

During the same Executive Council meeting, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the council members for their contributions throughout 2024. He passed a vote of confidence on the team, acknowledging their dedication and accomplishments over the year.

However, he challenged them to achieve even greater feats in 2025 by remaining committed to their statutory duties and responsibilities.
