Adeleke establishes holding camps for displaced persons as Osun crisis persists

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the immediate establishment of three holding camps for displaced persons from Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the directive follows the successful distribution of food and relief materials to the affected persons through the palaces of each town.

The statement emphasized that the 24-hour curfew remains in effect, with heightened security surveillance in the affected areas.

“Now that the distribution of food and relief materials has commenced, I have directed the state emergency agency to set up camps for displaced people,” the statement read.

“Each town is to have a designated camp, possibly in their town halls or any suitable location. Security agencies will screen displaced persons before transporting them to the camps.

“The emergency agency will provide food and other essentials while the situation stabilizes. Additionally, the agency has reached out to NEMA for further support.”

Governor Adeleke praised security agencies for their swift intervention in controlling the conflict and ensuring the prosecution of key perpetrators.

“All culprits must be brought to justice. There must be accountability, and I expect suspects to be charged in court as soon as possible,” he added.
