Adeleke inaugurates 52-member campaign team, says victory is certain

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated a 52-member Imole Campaign Council to drive his re-election bid, declaring that he already feels the “cloud of victory” ahead of the poll.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, Adeleke said he was confident of victory for himself, his team and his political party, the Accord.

He said, “I am feeling the victory, the defeat of our opponents. This team is heading to victory. My spirit confirms our party, the Accord, is declared winner with wide margins. This is how we started in 2022. Today is the march to victory on August 15.”

Speaking on behalf of the campaign team, the Director-General, Senator Lere Oyewumi, said the campaign would avoid unnecessary confrontation with opponents, insisting that the party had no reason to engage in political hostility.

“What we did in 2018 and 2022 is different from what we are going to do now because God has promoted us from an opposition party to the ruling party. The style of somebody in opposition is quite different from the campaign style of somebody who is not only in government but is doing very well in government. We are going to disappoint a lot of people in town who are thinking we are going to join issues with people that have nothing to sell,” he said.

According to him, the administration has enough achievements to present to the electorate, adding that its record speaks for itself.

“Our candidate is good and the market is fine, so what is the problem? If we are here in the next one year, we cannot tell Osun people everything the governor has done,” he said.

Oyewumi also announced plans to expand the campaign structure across the state, particularly at the wards and local government levels, where more people would be engaged to drive the process of re-electing the governor.
