Adeleke leads Tinubu’s Osun campaign as Wike takes charge in FCT, Rivers

President Bola Tinubu has named Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as the director of his 2027 re-election campaign in the state, while Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, will coordinate the campaign in the FCT and Rivers State.

The appointments form part of the revised composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, which is scheduled for inauguration on Wednesday, October 14, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The party announced the inauguration in a statement signed by its national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, on Monday.

Adeleke, who was re-elected governor of Osun State on the Accord Party platform in August, had earlier declared support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition. His appointment as the state campaign director places him at the centre of the president’s re-election campaign in Osun, despite not being a member of the APC.

The development raises questions about the role of the APC’s own leadership and structures in coordinating Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the state, particularly former governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and the party’s governorship candidate, Munirudeen Oyebamiji.

Former Osun State Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore has also featured in the party’s campaign arrangements, having previously been named to the APC campaign council for the August 2026 Osun governorship election. His position in the latest presidential campaign structure is another point of interest as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

Wike’s appointment to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT is also notable because he remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former Rivers governor has repeatedly pledged to work for Tinubu’s re-election in both territories.

The revised campaign list also names Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as director of finance, while Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji will coordinate fundraising. Senator Abdulaziz Yari retains his position as director-general of the campaign council, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma remaining secretary.
