Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed the key drivers behind Osun State’s extraordinary rise from 33rd to 7th position in the National Examination Council (NECO) rankings.

Speaking with journalists at the Government House, Osogbo, Adeleke emphasized that the turnaround in performance stems from deliberate improvements in the state’s learning environment, including the rehabilitation of over 150 public schools, which he said provided a more conducive atmosphere for academic excellence across Osun State.

He also said that the administration’s decision to attend to the many needs of teachers across the schools was a major motivating factor, adding that “our teachers are well motivated with regular payment of salaries and entitlements, and they give their best to teach and support our students.”

To further stabilize the education system, Adeleke said his government re-engaged experienced former principals and vice principals, while tightening administrative processes to prevent systemic leakages. Continuous, targeted training and retraining programs for teachers were also introduced to strengthen teaching quality and professional competence.

The Governor also credited the government’s regular distribution of learning materials to schools, teachers, and students as another contributing factor.

Addressing the issue of teachers’ recruitment, the Governor said that now that the government has consolidated the existing personnel within the schools, letters to the first batch of new teachers will be released soon.

According to the Governor, the financial implications for sustainability are being finalized to support the addition of new personnel to the teachers’ pool.

Adeleke reiterated that the main target of the government is to attain first position in the national rating, pledging that the administration is doing more to achieve that top-grade ranking.
