Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on sports professionals to remain in Osun and contribute to the transformation of the state’s sports sector.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the redevelopment and remodeling of the Osogbo Stadium Sports Complex, the governor assured that the project would be completed within 12 months.
Adeleke emphasized that Osun is on the verge of a sports revolution and encouraged professionals to be part of the process.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to rewarding athletes who have brought honor to the state in various championships.
“Apart from investing in infrastructure and policy frameworks, the welfare of our sportsmen and women is a top priority. Moving forward, we have decided to reward all athletes who have made the state proud at various championships. They will be handsomely compensated based on their level of achievement.

“We encourage both budding and established athletes to train harder and develop their skills. Osun’s sports sector is set for a silent revolution, and sports professionals should stay back and be part of it,” he said.
The governor stated that the remodeled complex will feature three international-standard football pitches and facilities for various sports, including volleyball, swimming, handball, hockey, and basketball. The project will also include a modern indoor sports hall, hostels for athletes, and a state-of-the-art four-star hotel.
He noted that the initiative is designed to be self-sustaining, with revenue generation plans incorporated to ensure both short- and long-term viability.
Adeleke further announced the establishment of the Osun Sports Commission to oversee the development and administration of sports in the state, along with a Sports Trust Fund to ensure sustainable sports financing.
