Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a stern warning to traditional rulers in Ifon, Erin-Osun, and Ilobu, stating that any monarch who fails to prevent a recurrence of violence in their domain will be removed from office.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said the warning follows reports that unidentified groups in the conflict areas are planning fresh attacks.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state, stressing that any actions undermining stability would not be tolerated.
“In the midst of the Sallah celebrations, I received reports of individuals planning another round of conflict in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun. Security agencies have intensified surveillance to prevent any attacks,” Adeleke stated.
He added that authorities are accelerating the interrogation of key figures involved in the crisis and cautioned town leaders that the peace agreements they signed would be strictly enforced.
“The curfew relaxation was a humanitarian decision, as we recognize that many innocent residents are suffering due to the actions of a few elements.
“However, any attempt to exploit this adjustment for renewed violence will result in the full reimposition of the 24-hour curfew,” he warned.
“Furthermore, any traditional ruler under whose domain violence reoccurs will be removed from office. This measure is firmly on the table. Royal fathers must take responsibility and ensure order among their subjects. Enough is enough,” the statement read.
