Adeleke welcomes EFCC, ICPC review of Osun staff audit report

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has welcomed calls for anti-corruption agencies to review the controversial staff audit report conducted for the state government.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are free to examine the audit report.
Adeleke explained that the audit exercise relates strictly to the payroll and personnel records inherited from the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He stated that his administration neither expanded nor altered the personnel and payroll structures it met on ground after assuming office.
According to the governor, the audit focused solely on records generated under the previous administration and not on actions taken by his government.
Adeleke said his administration should be commended for rejecting recommendations that would have resulted in the disengagement of legitimate workers.
He noted that the government halted potential fraud while pursuing efforts to sanitise the state’s payroll system.
The governor added that officials of the Oyetola administration should be prepared for the review exercise by the anti-corruption agencies. “Let the Oyetola administration officials brace up for the exercise,” he said.
