Adeleke welcomes Oyebamiji’s peace call, seeks Oyetola, others’ support for Osun development

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has welcomed the call for peace by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, following his visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adeleke described the peace advocacy as “a positive tone after weeks of heated campaign and election season,” saying it was a welcome development for Osun residents who experienced trauma and violence in the two months leading up to the election.
The governor, who also met with President Tinubu on Thursday, called for restraint by all political parties while reflecting on the pre-election climate of fear and conflict in the state.
Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said his team had never subscribed to violence as a political weapon, even when it came under severe pressure in the countdown to the election.
The governor, who recounted the pain he endured in restraining his supporters from retaliating against attacks, said Accord lost 15 members, while 20 others were injured and scores were detained by the police.
“I am forever a man of peace. It is heartwarming that my brother, Oyebamiji, is also preaching peace. I assure him that my supporters have not and will not attack APC members,” Adeleke said.
“Elections have come and gone and we are all winners. The common task for us all is to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends and good governance to the good people of Osun State.
“I welcome Mr Gboyega Oyetola, Bola Oyebamiji and other opposition leaders to join hands with me to take Osun to greater heights. We are all important stakeholders in this Osun project,” he added.
