Adeleke’s spokesperson accuses Osun APC of spreading false allegations

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has accused the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of making spurious allegations over a proposed protest linked to the ongoing local government administration crisis.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Rasheed said the Adeleke administration is not sponsoring any protests or agitations, stressing that citizens, workers and pensioners understand their rights and will defend them against impunity and lawlessness.

“We categorically assert that the Adeleke administration is not in the business of sponsoring protests and agitations. The people know their rights and will defend those rights against impunity and lawlessness. Oppressed workers, pensioners and citizens are conscious of their rights to oppose impunity, and they are set to do so by delivering a full-time defeat to the APC in August,” he said.

Rasheed said the people of Osun have seen through what he described as the shenanigans of the APC, accusing the party of plotting to destabilise the state and inflict harm on innocent residents.

According to him, Osun residents will use their ballots to punish the APC for alleged illegal actions, constitutional breaches, and the mishandling of local government finances, which he said have negatively affected workers and pensioners.

The spokesperson stressed that Governor Adeleke, his team and family remain committed to the rule of law and will not support any agenda capable of plunging the state into crisis.

He described the APC’s alarm as an undemocratic attempt to seize power through the back door after realising the resolve of Osun people to reject the party at the polls.

Rasheed urged the police and other security agencies to remain vigilant and prevent any attempt to exploit the genuine grievances of pensioners to create instability in the state.
