Afa Okeagbe marks the first coronation anniversary of Ajana

The ancient town of Afa Okeagbe in Ondo State was agog on Saturday as indigenes at home and abroad gathered to celebrate the first coronation anniversary of the Ajana of Afa Okeagbe, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Elder Ayodele Samson Akande, congratulated the monarch, describing his reign as one marked by wisdom, peace, and development.
The governor said Ajana had continued to promote unity and cultural heritage within Okeagbe-Akoko, adding that the state government remained committed to working with traditional rulers to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, represented by Hon. Adetileewa Fafunmilade, extolled the monarch, praising him as a symbol of pride for Afa Okeagbe and Akoko land.
Earlier, Oba Arasanyin described his emergence as monarch as a period that tested the unity and patience of the people.
He expressed gratitude to the kingmakers for their integrity in upholding the will of the community during the selection process.
The monarch outlined some of his achievements in the past year to include the installation of new chiefs, revitalisation of the Oba-in-Council, restoration of the Chief Magistrate’s Court, scholarships for students, improved healthcare services, and the establishment of an ICT centre for youth empowerment.
He further unveiled plans for the future, such as expanding the scholarship scheme, creating a micro-credit facility for young entrepreneurs, introducing a Back-to-Farm programme to boost food security, and commencing the construction of a modern palace to complement the historic one.
The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, in their goodwill messages, praised the Ajana for his humility and leadership, urging the people to support their monarch.
