The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has congratulated Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, for securing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The Super Eagles’ qualification was confirmed on Thursday following Libya’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, which guaranteed Nigeria one of the top two spots in their group.

Honourable Amadu, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, hailed the team’s early qualification as a reflection of their quality and determination throughout the qualifiers.

“The early qualification of the team is a testament to the quality of the players and their determination since the start of the qualifiers,” he stated. “This is great news for Nigeria. I commend the players and coaches for a job well done and for proving that reaching the AFCON final earlier this year was no fluke.”

The lawmaker also praised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their effective management of the team during the qualifiers. “Kudos to the NFF for maintaining stability and avoiding crises throughout the campaign. This shows the board is doing commendable work.”

Looking ahead, Honourable Amadu urged the Super Eagles to focus on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. “It’s time to shift attention to the World Cup qualifiers. I am optimistic that the team can turn things around by winning all their remaining matches, given the quality we possess.”

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles secured the top spot in their group with a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in Abidjan on Thursday night, further solidifying their dominance in the qualifying series.
