Afenifere leader commends Tinubu as First Lady visits Ondo

Elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to improve the country, saying the President has exceeded expectations. He gave the commendation during a visit by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to his residence in Akure, Ondo State.
Senator Tinubu said the informal visit was to convey the President’s warm regards to the 98-year-old elder statesman, whom she and the President consider a father figure. She also commended Fasoranti for his enduring contributions to national development.
As part of her two-day working visit to the state, the First Lady met with over 60 traditional rulers, led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi. The monarchs expressed support for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and pledged to promote its health awareness campaigns across their communities.
The traditional rulers also praised the First Lady’s outreach and declared their support for President Tinubu’s second term bid, citing his achievements in key areas of governance.
Later, at the Dome in Akure, Senator Tinubu handed over professional kits—10,000 scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs—to midwives in the South-West zone, in support of the ongoing national retraining program for frontline health workers.
She stated that over 59,000 health workers have already completed training, and the kits serve as incentives to encourage continued dedication. She also applauded stakeholders like Health Minister Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate and NPHCDA head Dr. Muyi Aina for their work in improving healthcare delivery.
The First Lady also presented a N50 million grant to the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, for disbursement to 1,000 women petty traders. Additionally, 200 fabric sellers received two bales of fabric each under the RHI Small Business Recapitalisation Program.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in his remarks, appreciated federal interventions in the state, including the new Air Force school and the upgrade of Adeyemi College of Education to a university, saying they have significantly impacted citizens’ lives.
