African nations set to witness spectacular lunar eclipse Sunday – NTA

Nigeria and several other African countries are set to witness a spectacular lunar eclipse on Sunday, September 7, according to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
The eclipse, expected to last about 83 minutes, will begin around 8:00 p.m. Nigerian time. Scientists explain that the phenomenon will be visible across most of Africa, though some western regions may miss the early stages as the Moon will be rising close to or during totality.
Countries expected to experience the celestial event include Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Togo, Niger, Chad, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the lunar surface. Experts emphasize that the event is completely safe to watch with the naked eye.
