The International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in partnership with the African Union Commission, has begun preparations for the 10th edition across notable African cities.

These preparations followed the success of the 9th edition hosted in Lagos, Nigeria. As part of the ongoing activities, artistes from different parts of Africa were contacted, including Forex and Juma Jux from Tanzania, where a parley was held among musicians, industry executives and government officials to strengthen international collaboration.

In a related development, award-winning artistes from Côte d’Ivoire, including Didi B, Milo, Team Paiya and Morija, were invited by the AFRIMA committee. Also, the Best African DJ Award winner, DJ Moh Green from Algeria, is expected to grace the event.

During the convention, the 9th AFRIMA winners are expected to share their experiences alongside other key stakeholders and members of the committee, while deliberating on the significance of AFRIMA and ways of promoting it.

Speaking ahead of the event, Guy Neza, an Ivorian and member of the AFRIMA International Jury, said the Abidjan parley is part of a strategic build-up to the 10th edition. He explained that the convention is aimed at deepening collaboration with government institutions and key industry stakeholders across Francophone countries in West Africa and beyond, while also promoting AFRIMA as a global platform.

According to him, the platform also seeks to enlighten stakeholders and the public on how winners are chosen at AFRIMA through a transparent process that begins with entry submissions, followed by nomination by a 13-man International Jury, and subsequent voting by the Academy of Voters and fans.

“This event is a reflection of AFRIMA’s commitment to amplifying the voice of Francophone Africa within the continental and global music industry. As a proud Ivorian and member of the AFRIMA International Jury, I view this gathering as a vital platform for collaboration, representation, and visibility for our creative community,” he said.

“Francophone Africa has always been rich in rhythm, culture, and innovation, from Côte d’Ivoire’s Coupe-Decale to Senegal’s mbalax and the urban fusions rising from the DRC, Mali, Cameroon and beyond. It’s time the rest of the continent and the world experience this dynamism at full volume.”
