After 15 years, Oyebanji restores electricity to Ekiti communities

Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has restored electric power to three towns in the state after years of blackout.
Oyebanji stated this in a post on Facebook, saying this was part of activities marking his first year in office.
The governor said the restoration of power will boost tourism around the corridor.
He said, “As part of the activities commemorating the first anniversary of our administration year, I commissioned the electricity power project connecting Ipole Erijiyan, Ikogosi Ekiti earlier today to put an end to years of black out in the area which is our major tourism corridor.
“As a government, we consider electricity a critical infrastructure in our development agenda and without power, industrialization remains an empty wish.
“To proffer a lasting solution to the electricity supply challenge in the industrial and tourism zone of Ikogosi-Ipole-Iloro, we constructed a 5KM long 33KV line from the Sub-Station at Omisanjana to Baptist High School, Ado Ekiti to link Ilawe line, another 14kKM long of a 33KV line to Erijiyan Ekiti and also rehabilitated an existing 33KV line from Erijiyan to Ikogosi industrial and tourism zone to energize the Ikogosi town, the warm spring resort, Gossy Water company and Ipole-Iloro line. With this, the 140 KV supply from the national grid which was hitherto underutilized is now fully put to profitable use.
“I express my profound gratitude to the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, the Permanent Secretary and the entire staff of Ekiti State Electricity Board for their commitment and professionalism. I urge our people to take full advantage of this development to enhance the socio- political development of the area.”
