Air Algerie secures NCAA permit, set to launch Nigeria flights April 6

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted Air Algerie, Algeria’s national airline, a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit (FCOP), paving the way for improved air connectivity between Nigeria and Algeria.

The permit was presented during a meeting between NCAA Director-General Chris Najomo and Hocine Mezoued, the Algerian ambassador to Nigeria. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.

“A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit (FCOP) to Air Algérie, the national airline of Algeria, enabling expanded connectivity, fostering economic ties, and strengthening mutual partnership,” the NCAA said in a statement.

In addition, approval was granted for a new flight route connecting Algeria, Nigeria, and Douala, Cameroon. The inaugural flight on this route, operated by Air Algerie, is scheduled for April 6, 2025.

The new route is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and diplomatic relations between the three countries.
