Airtel, Mobihealth partner to expand healthcare access in Nigeria

Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecommunications and mobile money service provider, has partnered with Mobihealth International, a pioneering telehealth service provider, to enhance access to healthcare for millions of Nigerians, especially in underserved communities.
The partnership promises affordable, round-the-clock telemedicine services, enabling Nigerians to connect with licensed healthcare professionals via mobile phones.
Through Mobihealth’s innovative platform, users can access services such as 24/7 teleconsultations, prescription services, delivery of genuine medications, and consultations with international medical specialists—all from the comfort of their homes.
Airtel’s extensive network infrastructure will help Mobihealth reach rural and remote areas, addressing critical gaps in the nation’s healthcare system. This includes tackling challenges like limited access to doctors, high healthcare costs, and a shortage of medical facilities.
Femi Oshinlaja, Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, emphasized the importance of telemedicine in Nigeria’s healthcare future.
“We believe that telemedicine will play a crucial role in improving healthcare outcomes in Nigeria. Our partnership with Mobihealth underscores our commitment to providing innovative solutions that significantly enhance the lives of Nigerians,” he said.
Dr. Funmi Adewara, Founder and CEO of Mobihealth, hailed the partnership as a significant step toward improving healthcare equity in Africa.
“This collaboration with Airtel is a major milestone in our mission to democratize healthcare. Together, we will bridge the gap for millions who face barriers to accessing timely, affordable, and quality medical care,” she said.
The Airtel-Mobihealth partnership aligns with government efforts to improve healthcare access and affordability. By leveraging technology, the collaboration is expected to transform Nigeria’s healthcare landscape, ensuring that even the most vulnerable populations can access quality medical services.
