Aishatu Binani dumps ADC, joins NDC in major political shift

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State during the 2023 election, Sen. Aishatu Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Binani formally defected to the NDC at an event held in Abuja on Friday, where she was presented with her membership card and welcomed by the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, alongside other party chieftains.

Speaking at the event, Binani said her decision followed a thorough review of the party’s constitution, which she noted reflects a strong commitment to structured, policy-driven governance.

The former lawmaker, who represented Adamawa Central Senatorial District, emphasized that her move was not a rejection of her previous political platform.

“Some may point out that just nine months ago, I was in another party. Let me state clearly that I will never condemn where I came from,” she said in response to concerns about her exit from the ADC.

“Politics is dynamic and often local in nature, and decisions are made based on prevailing realities,” she added.

In his remarks, Dickson described Binani’s defection as a demonstration of confidence in the NDC’s vision for a “new Nigeria” and a different kind of politics anchored on ideology, service, inclusion, and national development.
