Aiyedatiwa declared winner of Ondo APC Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, as their candidate for the state’s November 16, 2024, governorship election.
Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship Election Committee, revealed the official election results and named Aiyedatiwa the victor.
Ododo reported that Aiyedatiwa received 48,569 votes, defeating 15 other candidates from 17 of the 18 local government areas since the election was not held in the state’s Ifedore Local Government Area.
The Returning Officer for the Ifedore local government, Oliver Okpala, clarified that people were afraid to leave the region due to a shooting that had occurred there.
He said that while the incident was being reported at the police station, the poll could not be held since all of the wards that his team had visited were empty.
Mayowa Akinfolarin, however, finished second in the race with 15,343 votes.
The party’s chairman, Ade Adetimehin, praised the committee and gave his word that the party will do everything in its power to continue being a formidable opponent in elections.
