Aiyedatiwa flags off Akure–Imafon Road Project, pledges continued infrastructure renewal

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday flagged off the Akure–Imafon Road Project, describing it as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and service delivery.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at the NNPC–Imafon Junction, Igbatoro Road, Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the project addresses long-standing demands of residents and marks a milestone in fulfilling promises made during his campaigns and at his inauguration.
He lauded traditional and spiritual leaders, party faithful, government functionaries, youth leaders, and landlords along the axis for their resilience and self-help interventions in maintaining the road over the years, adding, “Your patience and perseverance have finally paid off. Government has taken over that burden, and your loyalty and sacrifice have not gone unrewarded.”
The governor reiterated his determination to bridge the state’s infrastructure gap by more than half before the end of his tenure and expressed confidence that the target would be surpassed if the current pace of development continues, complementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Transformation Agenda.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that infrastructural expansion and human capital development are central to his administration’s “OUR EASE” policy, noting that good road networks facilitate the free flow of goods, services, and ideas, and are the lifeblood of any modern economy.
He disclosed that the State Executive Council had approved the rehabilitation and construction of 101 kilometres of new roads across the three senatorial districts, aimed at easing vehicular movement, opening up communities, and improving living standards, while appealing to residents of Igbatoro, Ala, and Imafon to cooperate for the smooth execution of the project.
Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, explained that the Akure–Imafon Road covers six kilometres with an average width of 10.3 metres, including several hydraulic and structural components, and noted an additional 5.3 kilometres had been awarded from Investment Structure to ShortRite Roundabout to the Federal Secretariat.
The chairman of Akure North Local Government, Johnson Ogunbolude, praised the governor’s people-oriented leadership, while the Olumafon of Imafon, Oba Aliu Adegbehingbe, described the project as a symbol of hope, connectivity, and social and economic growth, commending the governor for fulfilling his promise to repair the road within a year.
