Aiyedatiwa flags off APC e-registration in Ondo

… Says it’s critical to party’s future
Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday formally flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise, describing it as critical to the growth, credibility and future planning of the ruling party.
The flag-off took place during the APC e-registration training exercise at the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) Hall in Akure.
The governor said party members must fully appreciate the significance and challenges of the registration drive, noting that the initiative aligns with the long-standing vision of President Bola Tinubu, even before he became President. According to him, the exercise is important not only to the APC but also to the President as the party’s leader.

“This exercise is very important for our party and for the leader of our party, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Aiyedatiwa said, urging members to demonstrate commitment by taking the process seriously. He stressed that mobilisation should be driven by influence and encouragement rather than coercion.
Aiyedatiwa explained that the e-registration would promote equalisation within the party, as all members would be registered within the same framework and timeframe, adding that he was personally leading by example. He also urged trainees to be diligent and attentive during the technology-driven training.

The governor highlighted the importance of information, education, skills and ICT in modern governance and party administration, stressing that a credible database would help the APC identify its members, plan effectively and strengthen internal processes.
He disclosed that the registration exercise would close on January 31, giving party officials about 33 to 34 days to register as many members as possible. He added that trainees were selected from various wards, local governments and districts and were expected to train others, reflecting the party’s confidence in their abilities.
Speaking at the event, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, said the electronic registration was essential to strengthening the party’s structure, internal democracy and credibility ahead of future congresses and primary elections. He explained that the exercise aims to produce verifiable membership data, integrate new members, build a reliable database for elections and ensure members become regular and financial contributors.
Kekemeke added that the exercise was being personally driven by President Tinubu with the support of governors nationwide, while the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters and Party Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, said the initiative would eliminate phantom entries, enhance transparency and accountability, and commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for ensuring the successful take-off of the programme.
