Aiyedatiwa hosts NIGCOMSAT team, pushes for tech-driven job creation in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through technology, as he hosted the management team of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT).
The meeting, held in Abuja on Wednesday, at the Ondo State Lodge, focused on strategies to equip young people with digital skills and create employment opportunities in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
Led by its Managing Director, Mrs. Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, the NIGCOMSAT delegation discussed the upcoming Hackathon Space-Technology and VSAT Satellite Training for university students and youths in Ondo State. The initiative aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, support tech startups, and enhance digital capabilities in the state.

Ondo State has been chosen as the Southwest regional hub for the program, underscoring the state’s digital transformation drive under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
The nationwide training began in Adamawa for the Northeast, with Jigawa representing the Northwest next week, followed by Imo State for the Southeast after Ondo’s session.
The Ondo training is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 2, 2025.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the NIGCOMSAT team for selecting Ondo as a regional hub and emphasized the need for further collaboration to bridge the digital divide. He highlighted the role of technology in improving social services and expanding economic opportunities for the state’s youths.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Hon. Tomide Akinribido, was also present at the meeting. The NIGCOMSAT delegation included Mrs. Adama Kure, Executive Director of Finance and Administration; Engr. Musa Otaru, General Manager of Regional Sales and Business Development; and Engr. Ikechukwu Amalu, Acting Director of Technical Services, among others.
