Aiyedatiwa inaugurates OSOPADEC Board, approves largest-ever budget

By Adeboye Ado –

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved a record N33.8 billion budget for the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) for the 2025 fiscal year.

The announcement came during the inauguration of the newly constituted OSOPADEC Board on Monday at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Akure. The Governor urged the board to bring meaningful development to oil-producing communities, particularly Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas.

Describing the inauguration as a new chapter in the Commission’s history, Aiyedatiwa said it aligns with his administration’s “OUR EASE” policy—focused on Access, Service, and Empowerment. He emphasized the state’s commitment to transparent governance and people-centered development.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the recent amendment to the OSOPADEC Act has positioned the Commission to operate with greater accountability, streamlined processes, and improved outcomes.

The N33.8 billion budget, he said, will address key infrastructural and social challenges in the affected communities. Projects will include road construction, school rehabilitation, improved water supply, health centre upgrades, housing schemes, and youth and women empowerment programmes.

The Governor encouraged the board to serve with integrity and measurable results, assuring them of the state government’s full support if driven by transparency and impact.

“We want OSOPADEC to flourish and deliver results that are visible in the lives of our people. Let us collectively build a legacy of peace, progress, and prosperity for Ilaje and Ese-Odo,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

Chairman of OSOPADEC, Prince Biyi Olaleye Poroye, responding on behalf of other members, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to serve with dedication and commitment.
