Aiyedatiwa pledges justice, fairness in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice and fairness for all residents.

He made the remarks on Friday in Akure during the swearing-in of newly appointed Justices of the Peace (JPs) in the state.

The governor said his administration is strengthening the justice system by appointing more state counsels, increasing the number of judges, and constructing a new Ondo State Judiciary Complex.

Aiyedatiwa urged the new JPs to view their appointments as a call to service, emphasising the need to discharge their duties responsibly.

“As Justices of the Peace, you have a duty to promote fairness while resolving disputes and contributing to the overall well-being of society,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Dr Kayode Ajulo, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, described the occasion as historic, noting that it revived a tradition that had long strengthened communities and promoted social order.

Ajulo emphasised that the JP title is not merely ceremonial but a mark of trust and service.

He said the appointees were selected through a transparent, merit-based process, citing their integrity, leadership, humility, and peaceful demeanour.
