Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the promotion of 4,921 workers and teachers due for elevation in 2025, while also recruiting over 2,830 new employees to strengthen the state’s public service.

The Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing in Akure to herald the 2025 Ondo State Public Service Week celebrations.

He commended Aiyedatiwa for his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and the education sector through massive recruitment of teachers for primary and secondary schools.

Philip warned against job racketeering in the public service, stressing that any civil servant caught engaging in such misconduct would face disciplinary action.

Philip said, “Under the current administration, the following achievements, particularly in the public service sector, are worthy of note: Prompt promotion exercises: all officers due for the 2025 promotion have received their letters, and the process for the 2026 promotion is already underway.

“In 2025 a total of 3,089 mainstream officers were promoted; 1,832 were promoted in the teaching sector (primary and secondary), while all the parastatals of government have followed suit.

The HoS also outlined activities for the celebration, including a health walk, a novelty football match, an interactive lecture session, Jumat prayers, and a thanksgiving service.

The Ondo State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Prince Leke Adegbite, applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to workers’ welfare, especially his prompt attention to promotions, pensions, gratuities, and recruitment.
