Aiyedatiwa reaffirms commitment to security, pledges stronger backing for agencies

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across the state, pledging continued support for all security agencies.
The governor made the assurance on Friday while receiving the 46th Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdulahi Mustapha, during a courtesy visit to his office in Akure.
Aiyedatiwa commended the courage and dedication of military personnel confronting Boko Haram, ISWAP and other criminal groups nationwide.

He referenced recent attacks on schools in Kebbi and Niger states, as well as an incident at a church in Kwara State, noting that timely intervention by security operatives helped rescue victims and avert further tragedy.

He attributed the relative peace in Ondo State to the strong collaboration among the government, the military, the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local hunters, forest guards and volunteer groups. The governor stressed that maintaining security is a shared responsibility requiring continuous cooperation and vigilance.
Aiyedatiwa assured Rear Admiral Mustapha of the state government’s unwavering support, adding that his administration remains committed to keeping Ondo among Nigeria’s safest states.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Mustapha praised the state government for its consistent backing, which he said has enhanced the Navy’s ability to secure Ondo’s maritime environment. He also highlighted the strategic importance of the state’s extensive coastline, hydrocarbon resources and the proposed deep-sea port.
The naval chief noted that intelligence-led and technology-driven operations remain essential to deterring criminal activities and protecting the state’s economic assets.
