The Ondo State Government has assured residents that it will complete ongoing road and infrastructure projects across the state, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa committed to transforming Akure into a modern state capital.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, gave the assurance while speaking on a radio programme, Ondo Path to Progress, where he said the administration would not abandon any project it had embarked upon.

Ajanaku said the government’s development plan for Akure was anchored on the implementation of the city’s master plan, urban renewal, improved traffic management and strategic road construction to ease movement and enhance connectivity across the state capital.

He explained that the ongoing flyover project in Akure was part of efforts to address traffic congestion, adding that the administration had prioritised infrastructure development across various sectors to improve residents’ quality of life.

Beyond infrastructure, the commissioner said the government had increased investment in healthcare through the renovation of health facilities and the recruitment of about 1,000 health workers, while youth empowerment programmes were being implemented to create opportunities for young people and artisans.

On economic development, Ajanaku said the administration was pursuing economic diversification through its partnership with the Dangote Group on the Olokola Free Trade Zone project, which he said was expected to attract investment and create employment opportunities.

He added that the government was supporting agricultural production through the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads, as well as the distribution of fertilisers and improved seedlings to farmers to boost productivity and improve access to markets.

Ajanaku urged residents to support the Aiyedatiwa administration, saying sustained public cooperation would help the government deliver on its development agenda, transform Ondo State and position Akure as a model state capital.
