Akintola applauds Governor Makinde’s infrastructure strides

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former APC governorship aspirant, Chief Niyi Akintola, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his outstanding performance in office, especially in the area of infrastructure development.

In an interview with The People’s Verdict, Akintola described Makinde as a true “Omoluabi” — a man of impeccable character, humility, intelligence, and purpose. He scored the governor’s performance at 85 percent.

According to Akintola, Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure include major road projects such as the Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso Road, the Moniya-Iseyin Road, and several roads within Ibadan. He said the governor’s efforts have transformed the landscape of Oyo State.

He recalled leading Makinde to his local government before the last election, where the people pledged their support. “I told him he would get the kind of votes never seen in Ido before, and that’s exactly what happened. He has never betrayed us,” he said.

Akintola noted that despite his APC affiliation, he acknowledged Makinde’s intervention in neglected roads. “Our road from Omi to Ido had not been attended to since 1992. You had to pass through other communities to get to Ido. But Governor Makinde fixed it and went further to complete other key roads in the area.”

He also cited the Apete to Akufo road and the Akufoto-Alabata road in Akinyele as examples of Makinde’s commitment. “Even if I were the governor, I don’t know what more I could have done for my local government,” he added.

Akintola shared a moment with the governor during a trip to Omi Adio, where Makinde, concerned about traders along the road, pledged to build a modern market — a promise that is now 99 percent fulfilled.

Although Ido was initially excluded from the Ibadan Circular Road project, Akintola said Governor Makinde has made plans to integrate the local government, reaffirming his dedication to the well-being of Oyo State residents.
